Prana Calendar

Ancient Wisdom, Modern Life

Aligning breath and daily rhythms with lunar and cosmic cycles.

What is the Prana Calendar?

The Prana Calendar tracks which nostril should be dominant at sunrise each day based on the lunar cycle. Ancient Svar Yoga (breath) science shows that the nasal cycle mirrors the moon — and that the dominant nostril directly shifts brain hemisphere activity and body chemistry. The ionic charge of the surrounding atmosphere — which is shaped by lunar cycles, solar activity, ocean air, and environment — further influences which state the body is most receptive to. Synchronizing your breath with these rhythms supports health, clarity, and wellbeing. Check your nostril at sunrise, correct if needed, log your result, and over time build a map of your own natural rhythm.

The Prana Calendar shows you which nostril should be dominant at sunrise each day, based on the current lunar cycle.

Left nostril — lunar (Ida). Cooling, receptive, alkaline.
Right nostril — solar (Pingala). Heating, active, acidic.

To use it:

  • Enter your location and today's date
  • Tap "Calculate Dominant Nostril"
  • The app shows which nostril should be dominant at sunrise

The most important moment is sunrise. Wake at least 20 minutes before the sun rises and sit quietly. At the moment of sunrise, check which nostril is actually dominant by gently closing each side and noticing which flows more freely.

If your nostril matches the calendar — your system is synchronized with the lunar cycle. A well-supported fortnight is ahead.

If it doesn't match, simply switch it. Lie down on the side of the currently dominant nostril for a few minutes. The breath usually shifts within three to ten minutes. This correction, done at sunrise, resets the day.

Log your result using the ✓ or ✗ buttons. Over time your Calendar tab builds a map of your synchronization with the lunar cycle — one of the most revealing forms of self-observation in this tradition.
